Wandering Together:
Outdoor Groups & Retreats
In Wandering Together, facilitated by Maddy Kolker, PLPC, and Lauren McWhorter, PLPC, participants are invited to join in walking nature meditations, expressive eco arts, sensory awareness activities, and group discussion.
Space to connect with yourself, others, and nature
Walking induces bilateral stimulation, which helps to integrate emotional and cognitive experiences. As a result, a greater ability to process thoughts and feelings is gained. Walking, being in nature, and expanding sensory awareness can also help to integrate one's nervous system, which supports emotional regulation, mindfulness, trauma recovery, and more.
Existentialist, Victor Frankl, posited that humans find meaning through opening their hearts to others, to the natural environment, and to themselves. All three of these will be practiced in Wandering Together. Sessions may include elements of art therapy inspired by the natural world, themes that come up during the activities, and support around the lives of participants.
